Johnson and Ochs Take Win at Ft. MyersRedfish Country, June 26, 2006
In case anyone hasn't noticed, the team of Craig Johnson and John Ochs are on a roll. Already atop the leaderboard at the O-Boy Oberto Redfish Cup Team of The Year standings with 3 top 10 finishes in 2006, the Lake-And-Bay team was on a mission in Ft. Myers. With a convincing win in the IFA Redfish Tour Florida West division, there are probably a few guys glad they didn't make the season opener at Ruskin.
With 14.94 lbs, Craig Johnson, of Sebring, Florida, and John Ochs, of nearby Englewood, Florida, took the win by almost a full pound over second place Team San Carlos Marine's Scott Rush Jr. and Wally Thomas.
Johnson and Ochs won a fully rigged Ranger Banshee, Yamaha 4 stroke, Loadmaster Trailer, Minn Kota Trolling Motor, Power Pole and Humminbird electronics worth some $20,000.00.
Following closely behind the leaders in points on the Redfish Cup circuit, Captain Bo Johnson and Mike Del Duca, also of Team Lake-And-Bay, 3rd in Cup points, brought in 13.00 lbs at Ft. Myers, and took 4th spot for the day. They currently hold down 2nd in the IFA Team of the Year race in the Florida West division.
The Lake and Bay Factory team support made its event debut at the IFA Redfish Tour event at Ft. Myers as well, showing the team's growth and commitment to the sport of Redfish Tournaments.
Lake and Bay's owner, Mike Del Duca, commented on the growth of the IFA's new format; "It was a very smart move by the IFA to go to this format, and by the numbers of the teams participating it's obvious the fishermen like it. I missed the first IFA West event due to a personal injury, but am glad to be back for this one."
"The guys on the tournament scene need to support the IFA, because competition between the event organizations is just as important to the anglers as the competition between the fishermen on the tours themselves."
Ranger Cup was snapped up by the third place team of Brady Nelson and Josh Ramsey, with 13.19 lbs. Nelson and Ramsey currently lead the IFA Florida West points division with 398 points over 2nd place points team of Bo Johnson and Mike Del Duca, who have 394 after the second event.
IFA sponsors include Ranger Boats, Yamaha Outboards, Cabela’s, MinnKota, Humminbird, Choice Hotels International, Image Graphics, Loadmaster, KeelShield, Power Pole, Solar Bat, Shimano, Powertex Group, Florida Fishing Weekly and Careco Multimedia.
